This policy explains what personal information Blades Brand collects when you visit bladesbrand.com or buy from us, why we need it, who helps us look after it and the choices you have, so that you can shop with us knowing exactly how your details are handled.
Blades Brand supplies 350N fencing kit to beginners, clubs, schools and universities from our warehouse at 514 Ipswich Road, Slough, SL1 4EP. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy, and if you have any questions about it you can reach us at sales@bladesbrand.com or on 01753 517 700.
When you place an order we ask for your name, billing and delivery addresses, email address and phone number, because we need them to process your payment, ship your kit and keep you updated about your order. If you create an account we also keep your login details and order history, so that you can track orders and check out more quickly next time. When you email or call us, we keep a record of the conversation so that we can help you properly and follow up on anything you have asked.
Your card details are entered directly into a secure form provided by our payment processor, Square, which means they never pass through or get stored on our website, and our team never sees your full card number.
Like most websites, our servers also record technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, which we use to keep the site secure and working well.
We use a small number of essential cookies that the shop needs in order to work, for example to remember what is in your basket and to keep you signed in. With your consent, which you can give or decline in the cookie banner, we also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, and Google Ads and Google Merchant Center tags to measure how well our adverts and product listings are working. These optional cookies are only set if you choose to accept them, and you can change your mind at any time through the cookie preferences link on the site.
We use your details to take and fulfil your orders, handle returns and guarantee claims, answer your questions and meet our legal obligations, such as keeping proper accounting records. The legal basis for most of this is that we need the information to carry out our contract with you; for record keeping it is a legal obligation; for keeping the site secure and improving our service it is our legitimate interest; and for analytics and advertising cookies it is your consent. We do not sell your personal information, and we will only send you marketing emails if you have asked us to.
We share only what is needed with the trusted companies that help us run the shop: Square, which processes card payments; Royal Mail and our courier partners, along with the WooCommerce shipping service we use to prepare labels, so that your parcel reaches you; Mailgun, which delivers our order and account emails; Amazon Web Services, which hosts our website; Wordfence, which helps protect the site from attacks; and Google, for the analytics and advertising measurement described above. Each of them may only use your information to provide their service to us. Some of these providers process data outside the UK, and where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
We keep order and invoice records for six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, because tax law requires it. Account details are kept for as long as your account is open, and general enquiries are kept for up to two years so that we have the context if you get back in touch.
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have anything inaccurate corrected, to ask us to delete your information or restrict how we use it, to object to our use of it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Just email sales@bladesbrand.com and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, although we would really appreciate the chance to put things right first.
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start working with a new service provider, and the date at the top will always show when it was last changed.
