British Fencing Association Blade Size Rules
A Guide

 

For certain National and Regional Age Group Competitions (not opens) smaller than the standard size 5 blades are required.

As a general rule these are;
Foil
 under 14 size 3 under 10 size 0.
Sabre
 under 14 size 2 under 10 size 0
Epee
 under 14 size 2 under 10 size 0
Over 14 size 5 for all weapons

 

Please check with the competition/event or series organizers to ensure you know which rules they are applying when entering an age group event.

Entry forms usually stipulate blade size requirements, please read carefully.
